Life
in West Roxbury
Annexed by Boston in the
late 19th century, West Roxbury offers the convenience of
city living in a suburban-like setting. West Roxbury offers
quiet, tree-lined streets, and downtown shopping district
along Center Street where local restaurants and business establishments
are still run by sole proprietors. Residents are civic-minded
and many participate in community-oriented organizations including
youth athletic leagues, political and social groups as well
as activities organized by houses of worship.
Although most of the housing is single family
homes, which also lends to the suburban feel, there are a
number of apartment communities offering rental options.
