Life in Bedford
Bedford is a town in Middlesex County. It is
located 15 miles northwest of Boston. Founded in 1729, it
has kept both its natural and architectural beauty. Noted
for having the oldest complete flag known to exist in the
United States, it is now on display at the Bedford Public
Library. It is celebrated for having been the first U. S.
Flag flown during the Revolutionary War and is believed to
have been carried by Nathaniel Page, a member of the Minutemen
to the Old North Bridge in Concord for the Battle of Concord
in 1775.
Residents enjoy many services in Bedford with
education being its top priority. The library serves everyone
and has active programs for the children. There are recreation
programs for all ages which include a swimming pond, a bike
path, a lake for boating and walking trails to conservation
areas. With its unique quality of community spirit, residents
feel their town is a great place to work and raise a family.
